  1. Well ..............is that what teaching is all about? Hoping the students would come to you and say 'thank you, teacher for having taught me till I become a successful student'. Nowadays, with the advancement of ICT, only the weakest student who managed to scrape through would normally did that to show their appreciation of their saviours, and only the smart students who really are smart would do that 'cos they know the value of respect and appreciation. However, the rest...well, they think they're smart, of which they're not really 'cos they never really understand the value of respect and appreciation. Good teachers soldier on, not hoping to be praised but keep educating their students, finally respected and appreciated when they are not walking on the earth surface anymore. Some of the smart teachers prefer to be in the limelight while teaching them, a few of them bragging of the respect and appreciation showered upon them, while the majority teachers nowadays say "as long as the performance in my subject is ok, that's enough". Which category are you in? (Anonymous)

  2. Dear anonymous,
there's nothing wrong in teaching students good values even if they don't mean it (saying thank you). hopefully, they will realise why in the course of time. u have to be in the context to fully understand the situation. but ur are entitled to ur opinion of course:) I wouldn't even call myself a 'saviour' as u mentioned. yes, we teachers 'soldier on' or else many would have given up a long time ago! thanks for ur comments.
