I was unaccountably inspired by your article. I once introduced journal-writing to my students but my effort was met with hostility by them. I carried it out for six months, having only a few students submit their journals and at last a colleague acted upon complaints and forced me to put a stop to it. The experience has bothered me for a long time but deep down in my heart I know it is a good activity for my students. After reading your article, I saw a new ray of hope and am raring to try it out again.

One of my faults was I was too critical about the mistakes they made in their writing. Looking back, I was the root cause of the failure.

Hi there,
Yes it's understandable. sometimes we teachers tend to go for grammatical accuracy and jump a tthe first instance of error :) But it's great that you realised it. Not many teachers will admit their faults.

Good to hear that! I think as a teacher, you should be given autonomy as to what you would like to do in your classrooms as long as you know what you want to do is beneficial for your students. It's unfortunate that you experienced something like that. Don't give up. Give it a try and see how it goes.
